I know there are Israelis committed to building a society that's fully and completely open to all ethnic groups/religious in the state, and are working to erode current inequities that happen to exist there (similar inequities exists for many minorities in both western and non-western states). But for Israel to be Israel, Palestine must also be Palestine, where ultimately it's residents are also free to make their own destiny. Netanyahu at least understands that, and that's why he stands for a 2 state solution. A shame actual Israelis understand that, and that you don't. |

As a Quicken user, I can only hope that Patzer finds a way to make it and Mint a great combo. I am using the Quicken 2003 version only because I irreversibly upgraded from the '98 version. It works, but as Patzer figured out, it could be so much better. The only reason I haven't started using Mint is because it doesn't let you upload financial records.
Ah, but will they come with the spoon straws? That's the REAL question.

These Laws need to work both ways; if your ISP takes down your content because of a takedown notice, and it later proves to not be applicable, then you should be able to sue the person who filed it and your ISP for the same sort of exorbitant damages that the MPAA/RIAA claim ..
OK folks, I'm an actual astronomer specializing in galaxy dynamics, so let me break this down for you. MOND was introduced to account for flat galaxy rotation curves in the absence of dark matter, at which it was very successful. However, MOND has failed to properly account for the motions of clusters of galaxies, while the LCDM (Lambda Cold Dark Matter) theory offers a better fit to the data. In addition, contrary to what is sometimes assumed, LCDM has made a number of predictions that have now been verified. The density of dark matter haloes in the outer regions has been found to be consistent with LCDM. In addition, simulations of the large scale structure of the universe display a pattern of voids and clumps strung together by filaments of dark matter, along which a large number of galaxies are expected to lie. This has been observed - galaxies do appear to lie along filaments. And of course, there's the bullet cluster and gravitational lensing.Here's MOND's real problem: it was intended to be a very simple theory (one free parameter) that could account for observed galaxy dynamics. However, you need to keep changing it and adding more free parameters to account for the other stuff that dark matter explains naturally. What's more, there's no reason to actually think that gravity must be modified as MOND states - it's purely ad hoc. However, there are a number of well-motivated candidates for what might constitute dark matter, namely axions, WIMPS, etc, all of which have been postulated for decades by particle physicists independent of the dark matter hypothesis.So now, you have a theory that want to make an ad hoc modification to the law of gravity to fit the data and that requires a bunch of extra parameters to make it work right, or you can explain all this stuff with dark matter naturally without having to change the laws of physics. We can't see it, but we have a good idea what it has to be made up of.Do you see now why most astronomers don't take MOND very seriously?!

People have been practicing deforestation for thousands of years. I know this is hard for your reactionary mind to comprehend, but new forests grow and are planted in areas where they did not exist before. Global forest cover is stable. If my little bubble you mean the one where I actually go out and read about things instead of just making assumptions based on the fact that I think everything is terrible and is always going to get worse, then yeah I'm in my bubble.Yes, there is a point at which you will hit a limit as to how much development can be sustained without clearing too much, but that is a long, long, long way off. In the meantime maybe you should read up on sustainable forest management. Or you can live your life as if humans are the destroyer of your Mother Nature and the world is coming to an end. |
