| i don't think all tolkien purists hated LOTR. i've been in love with this series of books for over 30 years, and i was beyond happy with the movies. i do not agree with everything jackson changed from the books from a story standpoint, but i understand them from a cinematic one. the movies work very well on their own. the level of detail and care that they put to the trilogy was absolutely fantastic. for a long time, i thought i would never see the books turned into movies that i would be happy with... so many had tried and failed... but then jackson came along, and suddenly i had a trilogy of movies that at the very least rivaled my love of the original star wars trilogy, if not surpassed it. | |
